St. Christoph is a small village situated within the mighty Arlberg ski area, just over an hour and three quarters from Innsbruck airport. Set between the better known neighbouring resorts of St. Anton and Lech, St. Christoph is a a sleepy quaint village by comparison, with excellent ski access and a superb snow record. Set at 1,793m altitude it is one of Austria’s highest ski resorts and typically enjoys excellent snow cover from December through to April. With a quiet ambience and exclusive feel, St. Christoph is a charming retreat that many enjoy and staying here enables guests to make the most of the 305 kilometres of pistes of the Arlberg.
Direct piste and lift access from the village without the queues that the neighbouring resorts can sometimes fall victim to, as well as quick access to the heart of the Arlberg ski area, those that choose to stay in St. Christoph will appreciate the ease in getting up and out skiing each day. With a speedy covered chairlift running from St. Christoph, taking skiers to a height of 2,185m and quickly on to St. Anton, Stuben, Zurs and Lech, as well as a wonderful cruisy blue piste back down to resort at the end of the day (as well as red itinerary piste option for off-piste lovers) it’s a wonderful place from which to ski. With its own ski school (Skischule Arlberg) and nursery slopes whether beginner, intermediate or advanced skier, or snowboarder, St. Christoph provides.
The Hospiz Alm is not only well known in St. Christoph but also across the Arlberg and even the Alps. With a sophisticated and traditional ambience, during lunchtime a more relaxed affair ensues with reliably tasty Austrian cuisine served inside and out. During the evenings the menu becomes more refined and is a wonderful treat to behold, especially with a bottle of wine from the cellar. Make sure that you don’t forget to take the ski boot friendly slide down to the toilet and with a little twisting of your waiters arm, see if you can head down to see the most impressive of wine collections you might ever see!
Maisensee Stuben is with a warm and inviting atmosphere and modern ambience in its bar, yet with rustic traditional charm in the dining room. The food makes the most of locally sourced produce but the main attraction is watching skiers make their way down the mountain and enjoying the beautiful alpine setting.
Arlberg Thaja is an excellent choice found pisteside in the most convenient of locations, perfect for a mid-morning coffee stop, or quick lunch with speedy attentive service. Arlberg Thaja enjoys modern interiors after a renovation just a few years ago and serves delicious traditional cuisine, again with an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. Once a month in celebration of the full moon, party-goers can enjoy an evening’s entertainment starting from 9pm!
St. Christoph is a wonderful option for families who want to relax in the setting of their own private chalet and enjoy time together. Alternatively groups that enjoy an evening in, or a relaxed drink in the afternoon in the likes of Maisensee Stuben or Arlberg Thaja will enjoy their time here.
