Namibia small group itinerary – 10 nights

Day 1: Rivendell Guest House, Windhoek, Namibia

Arrive into Windhoek airport with a meet and greet followed by meeting your guide later that afternoon or evening. Rivendell Guest House offers good quality affordable accommodation with warm hospitality, swimming pool and a lounge. Stay in a double or twin en-suite room and enjoy bed and breakfast board.

Days 2-3: Sossusvlei Lodge, Namib-Naukluft National Park, Namibia

Stay under the stars in the desert and experience the amazingly clear night sky of Namibia and the magical beauty of the Namib-Naukluft National Park which encompasses the Namib Desert and Naukluft Mountain Range to form Africa’s largest game park. The Sossusvlei area is iconic with its famous beautiful sand dunes and the deadvlei area. For the more adventurous you can climb the ‘Big Daddy’ sand dune: Dune 45. 

Stay in the Sossusvlei Lodge at the entrance to the Namib-Naukluft National Park, ideal for those heading into the park before it gets busy, it is the perfect place from which to explore this mesmerising landscape. With views of the floodlit watering hole guests can revel in the opportunity to spot oryx, springbok, jackals and hyenas. With breakfast, lunch and dinner included as well as an excursion scaling Big Daddy, one of the highest sand dunes in the world, this is an experience like no other.

Days 4-5: Hansa Hotel, Swakopmund, Namibia

Explore the charming city of Swakopmund which draws on African and European influences with colourful houses, German architecture, palm tree lined avenues and intriguing weather with rain an extremely rare occurrence but a mysterious salt fog often settling on the town in the morning due to the positioning of the city between the cool Atlantic Ocean and the arid Namib Desert. 

Breakfast and lunch are included but dinner is of your choosing each night and your guide will be happy to make recommendations, a must try is one of the incredible seafood restaurants found in Swakopmund. 

An incredible Catamaran Cruise is included out to Pelican Point and through Walvis Bay where you will visit the Cape Fur seal colony with its playful seals and learn of the local oyster platforms. Dependent on the time of year and with some luck you might see sunfish, leatherback turtles, humpback, southern right or orca whales and dolphins. Whilst aboard guests will enjoy sparkling wine, Walvis Bay oysters and snacks and drinks.

Days 6-7: Doro Nawas Camp, Damaraland, Namibia

Damaraland, also known as the Southern Kuene Region, is rugged with dramatic and vast landscapes which are wild and enchanting. The incredible scenery captures the imagination of many but there’s also a number of wildlife spread across this vast area which are adapted to the desert environment, in particular the endangered black rhino and desert elephants. 

Relax in the beauty of your camp with spectacular views and the ease of having breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Enjoy a morning game and nature drive by the Abu Huab River, whilst the game can be elusive, the drive will show you how stunning the surroundings are and if lucky you might spot elephant, springbok, rhino or cheetah.

Days 8-9: Eagle Tented Lodge, Okaukuejo/Etosha National Park, Namibia

You can’t visit Namibia without experiencing safari and at the Etosha National Park you can view the best wildlife that the country offers. Part of the Kalahari Basin, the Etosha Pan is a dusty pan open from sunrise to sunset teeming with wildlife. The Eagle Tented Lodge is a brilliant place from which to experience wildlife and enjoy a game drive, set on its own private wildlife reserve with swimming pool the ideal spot to lounge and spot some wildlife. 

Day eight consists of breakfast, a picnic lunch and dinner and travel to the Eagle Tented Lodge. Day nine is a day of leisure around the Etosha where you will enter the national park early in the morning for some prime game viewing, your guide will drive between waterholes identifying wildlife along the way and then take you to the Eagle Tented Lodge in the afternoon to relax.

Day 10: Okonjima Plains Camp, Okonjima, Namibia

The Okonjima Game Reserve provides real spectacle, an incredible home to many big cats it is where the AfriCat Foundation can be found with cheetahs, leopards, hyenas and wild dogs rehabilitated here. Conveniently located between the Etosha National Park and Windhoek it is your final chance to experience the incredible wildlife of Namibia providing true spectacle focused around these incredible big cats but also with the chance of spotting black rhino, elephants, giraffes and lions. 

Enjoy breakfast, a picnic lunch and dinner and take part in the study looking at providing a sustainable future for leopard populations. Whilst through radio-tracking and knowledgeable guides the chances of seeing these cats is good, they are still notoriously shy and can be elusive.

Day 11: Windhoek, Namibia

After the incredible Etosha National Park, Sossusvlei and Sesriem, Walvis Bay and the Okonjima it’s going to be hard to leave, a trip that will have formed lifelong memories and will ensure that you will want to return to Namibia to see more of this magical country.
