The Desert Homestead Lodge is a beautiful lodge with horse stables attached that is located within the Namib Desert. Designed in a traditional farmhouse style it is fantastically located just 30 minutes by car from the Namib-Naukluft National Park. From here you can explore the wonders of the Sossusvlei, the deep red sand dunes and Dead Vlei which is one of the main attractions of Namibia.
Set on the plains surrounded by the Rotterkaum and Naukluft Mountains the Desert Homestead Lodge is a relaxed lodge offering friendly service and an incredible location. There are 26 thatched en-suite chalets for guests, all of the chalets have furnished verandas perfect for relaxing and watching the sun rise or set over the desert.
The main lodge at the Desert Homestead Lodge is spacious and airy, combining rustic charm with beautifully crafted buildings. The living area is spacious and there is plenty of seating for guests to enjoy their afternoons between activities. The restaurant serves hearty local cuisine, guests can choose to dine inside or outside under the stars by candlelight, it is a romantic setting and the stargazing in this area is spectacular. The Desert Homestead Lodge is an eco-friendly destination and the restaurant uses fresh fruit and vegetables which are grown in the garden for the meals it prepares.
The Lodge has a large terrace with sun loungers and cooling swimming pool, ideal for taking a dip during the desert heat and from the deck the views are incredible and vast. Guests might also be treated to the occasional impala or zebra spotting as they roam around the grounds.
For the more adventurous the lodge has its own private stables and encourages guests to explore the desert on horseback. With guided sunrise and sunset rides, champagne picnics and romantic meals it is the perfect way, even for beginners, to see more of the local area.
