Located deep within the Madikwe Game Reserve is the Sanctuary Makanyane Safari Lodge. Ideal for couples and honeymoons this romantic lodge is an enchanting place to stay. This is a small, private and intimate lodge with eight luxurious safari suites. It has absolutely wonderful views of the Madikwe Game Reserve, an area which is lesser known but just as rich in wildlife as the more well-known Kruger National Park. The Sanctuary Makanyane Safari Lodge is found within a private area within the Madikwe Game Reserve which is malaria free. Guests can of course not only enjoy the game drives in the private area but also the larger Madikwe Game Reserve where the Big Five are ready to be spotted nearby. The wildlife is sensational with lions, leopards, elephants and rhinos commonly sighted on game drives. 

Each of the safari suites is wonderfully luxurious and provides the camp with a boutique ambience. Beautifully furnished and stunning the suites are glass fronted and overlook the Marico River – ideal for private game viewing. For a once in a lifetime experience guests can add-on a romantic ‘sleep out under the stars’ experience (available outside of June and July).

The main lodge provides guests with plenty of space to relax in between complimentary game drives and bush walks with an expert ranger. The indoor-outdoor space offers plenty of living space, a dining area and large wooden deck. From the deck there are sweeping views of the wilderness and the lodge overlooks a often visited waterhole. There is a heated infinity pool with comfortable sun loungers which is the best possible spot for a lazy afternoon, and guests might like to treat themselves to a spa treatment after a refreshing dip.
