Avoriaz sits within the ski area of the Portes du Soleil on the French-Swiss border, with resorts such as Morzine and Les Gets on the French side and Champéry on the Swiss side, offering 600 kilometres of ski terrain. Ideally situated, just an hour and a half from Geneva, Avoriaz enjoys high altitude snow-sure slopes and a convenient transfer time, perfect for families.
Sitting at 1,800 metres altitude, Avoriaz is a snow-sure resort brilliantly positioned for great snow quality and quantity at the start and end of the season. The resort is popular with families not only because of its short transfer time and snow record, but also because it has a range of slopes which are fantastic for beginners, improvers and intermediates. The resort is built on a flat plateau which means that for children looking to put skis on for the first time, there is the perfect terrain to get to grips with. As skiers and snowboarders progress there are some equally wonderful runs for intermediates and advanced skiers across Avoriaz, Chatel and Morzine and more child-friendly ski options on the Les Gets side of the domain. Avoriaz is also a popular choice with snowboarders as it is home to the world famous Stash Park, full of kickers, side-hits and grindable features.
This car free resort is extremely convenient for ski access, with almost all properties boasting ski-in/ski-out locations. With a host of excellent ski schools like New Generation and Evolution 2 on offer in resort, skiers looking to hone their skills are very well served. For non-skiers there are a host of activities from snowshoeing and snowmobiling to bowling and ice skating. The jewel in Avoriaz’s non-ski crown is Aquariaz, a tropical paradise with open-air spa, lazy river, it is a fantastic day out for adults and children alike and one of the best water parks found in any resort in the world.
Whilst Avoriaz has always had a fun atmosphere and been known for a good amount of nightlife and après ski, such as that found at Chez Flo, that was taken to new heights for the 2018/19 season with the opening of the world-class après hangout, La Folie Douce, known as one of the liveliest après spots there is in sister resorts such as Val Thorens and Val d’Isère. In terms of eating out restaurant l’Etage is always a popular option serving traditional savoie fare.
