A sneak peek at five of our Spanish villas
December 11, 2020
With a rise in villa holidays, more families and groups of friends are looking to go away together and spend quality time in the privacy of their own villa for a seven or 14 night stay away. Spain is one of the most popular destinations that we in the UK head to each year for our summer holidays. It is also just a short flight, just over two hours away it is very easy to travel to especially with children or for a long weekend away, it is perfect even a romantic break for two in places such as Seville or Granada. Visit our Spanish page here.
This summer we have added Spain to our list of destinations alongside a collection of boutique and all-inclusive family hotels, not to mention a variety of villas. It is a place that we at Flagstone Travel love and personally I think it offers so much for a short-haul holiday.
Here are some of the reasons I love Spain are:
- Short travel time
- Excellent food from paella to tapas and pintxos
- Delicious and fantastic value wine
- A choice of private villas
- Luxurious boutique hotels
- It immediately feels like you are on holiday on arrival
- Great weather
- Wonderful markets
- Incredible views
- Beautiful beaches
With historic cathedrals, beautiful plazas, local food markets, tapas bars, beautiful scenery there are a large variety of places to visit and things to do whilst holidaying in Spain. Villa holidays are a different type of holiday and can be booked on their own or as part of a package. They offer a wonderful and relaxing holiday which is flexible. It enables guests to have their own space and privacy, from two bedroom family villas to larger groups in villas sleeping up to 28 there are plenty of options to choose from. With the current travel guidance changing on a weekly basis, a villa holiday offers the ideal environment to enjoy a holiday whilst travelling safely. I have hand-picked five of my favourite villas that are available for private use for summer 2021 for you, to give you a sneak peek into what is available for a range of different holiday requirements.
1. Villa Ca’n Jaume near Pollença, Majorca
This is the perfect villa for a family of four. Reasonably priced the Villa Ca’n Jaume is in the north of Majorca near Pollença one of the most popular towns. There are regular flights to Palma from the UK and the flight is approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes. The villa is in a quiet location and has a private outdoor swimming pool, al fresco dining area, air conditioning, two bedrooms and an attractive open-plan kitchen and dining area. It is good for families as there is plenty of space, the swimming pool is close to the villa, it is flat and easily accessible. The outdoor seating is perfect for parents who are looking to enjoy a late dinner or glass of wine whilst being close to their children in the evenings. The villa has parking and is just a short drive from the beach or town of Pollença so it is excellent for a family with slightly older children who would enjoy a few days exploring the local area.
2. Villa del Mar in Son Bou Menorca
I have chosen this villa as it is an excellent villa for eight people on the island of Menorca. A small island and a more traditional white-washed villa that is calming and spacious with incredible sea views. This is the perfect place for two families, one family with grandparents or a group of friends to take for the week. The villa has a light and airy feel with four spacious bedrooms, there is an outdoor swimming pool, al fresco dining area and barbecue.
It is a villa where you can easily walk to the beach to leave to try one of the local tavernas or if you didn’t want to you would not need to leave at all during your stay. One of the most spectacular aspects of this villa is the view especially with a cocktail or a glass of sangria in hand watching the sunset with your friends over the Mediterranean Sea. It is something that will be enjoyed night after night and you will miss when you return home.
3. Villa Cielo in the Costa del Sol, Andalucia
This villa certainly has the wow factor, a modern and spacious villa sleeping 10 guests on the Costa del Sol it is easily accessible and is surrounded by large grounds, pristine gardens and an inviting infinity pool. Built into the hillside the Villa Cielo has amazing countryside views and the villa is cooling, light and airy with five en-suite bedrooms. The villa has a lovely living area and is fully air conditioned although you may find yourselves outside most of the time around the barbecue, al fresco dining area or table tennis table. This villa is well suited to groups of friends who are looking to spend time together, relax, enjoy drinks by the pool and make the most of the glorious Spanish weather. It is a hidden gem and a short 15 minute drive to the supermarkets, beach, shops and a selection of restaurants and bars. A villa which is well worth noting if you are thinking of going away with a group next summer.
4. Villa La Vista in Cap de Creus, Costa Brava
The Villa La Vista is located in the Costa Brava area of Spain, boasting a fantastic location just 500 metres from Port Lligat beach. This villa is spectacular and has so many facilities on offer. From the infinity pool to outdoor Jacuzzi, this villa has a sauna, cinema room, games room, boule court and beautiful al fresco dining area as well as many games such as table tennis, table football and a pool table. It is the perfect villa for groups of 16 to enjoy a week away in the privacy of their own home whilst living in opulent surroundings. The villa even has a grand piano and state of the art security system. With a large garden and terrace and breathtaking views it is a stunning villa with modern yet chic decor, it is great for groups of friends. Whether you are celebrating a 40th birthday, a large family holiday with your grandchildren or a small wedding party away it is a villa worth bookmarking.
5. Villa Son Saura Estate in Sant Climent, Menorca
This is a villa with a difference, the Villa Son Saura Estate is more like a boutique hotel rather than a villa. A beautifully crafted building with plenty of space for up to 24 guests, the Villa Son Saura Estate is ideal for when guests are looking to spend quality time together. Fully staffed and catered, unlike many villas, the estate along with the service is exquisite. The outdoor swimming pool is picture-postcard worthy and there is a calming wellness and massage treatment area ideal for relaxing. The villa comes with butler and barbecue, almost anything you can think of is catered for here. One of my favourite aspects of the villa is not just the views from the bedrooms but the outdoor seating area and al fresco dining area. It is as if the villa was made for long sociable evenings where guests can reminisce of old memories whilst creating new ones.
