Discovering Gregolimano
May 11, 2020
When thinking of Greece I think of the sun, sea, good food, deep blue waters and beautiful scenery. Or at least this is what I would hope for on a holiday to Greece, combine this with an all-inclusive hotel that would not disappoint even the most active of guests, a hotel that offers childcare, time to relax and have a few cocktails, and some fantastic French chefs and Club Med Gregolimano ticks all the boxes.
Gregolimano is set overlooking a private beach with stunning views of the Aegean Coast. This hotel is found on the island of Euboea, the island, the second largest of the Greek islands, with beautiful hillsides, warm sandy beaches and hiking that will lead you to views that will take your breath away, Gregolimano is the place to go.
Gregolimano has a secluded beach on the north west of the island, towards mainland Greece. Surrounded by pine trees, with gardens and two in-house restaurants, one of which has outdoor dining and a terrace overlooking the sea, it is the picture of your next beach holiday. It is a two hour drive from Athens (flights and transfers can be included when booking), then a 45 minute ferry to the island, and it is certainly worth the journey.
Perfect for a range of guests, starting with families, there is childcare included, which is rare for many all-inclusive holidays. Forget the image of an 18-30s holiday, this could not be more different. Mini Club Med is the childcare available from four to 10 years old and the Junior Club Med is from 11 to 17 years old. The hotel also offers a baby corner, located in the main restaurant offering sweet and savoury baby foods as well as a separate playground full of children’s facilities. For those with young children there is also at an additional cost a babysitting service for two year olds and upwards.
For those looking to explore the island there are a selection of excursions on offer such as the visit to the Delphi and Mateora rock formations available as well as a number of walks and hikes that you can do locally. Some of which give you stunning views of the coastline and island itself. If you are looking for evening entertainment, try the main bar, there is also an evening entertainment area where the staff put on nightly shows including a mini Cirque du Soleil trapeze evening and for those that want to carry on an outdoor dance floor and DJ.
You can stay in the heart of the hotel, a lively and interesting area with everything from aqua aerobics and bars to an outdoor dance floor, or in one of the bungalows offering a more secluded and private, quiet holiday. The main hotel has 381 rooms ranging from superior rooms to deluxe and spacious suites. The hotel is finished to a high standard, with modern rooms, good bathrooms and lounge areas to relax away from the heat, which if you visit in August you will be grateful for.
The choice of activities that Gregolimano offers is incredible and whilst personally I love to relax on the beach and enjoy some quiet time, of which there is plenty of, a family with children or those that would rather try something new rather than get stuck into a book are in heaven.
In terms of activities, there are more than I can list, I’ll give it a good go though… To start with the more unique activities, trapeze group lessons are included and offer a fab chance to play on the trapeze from four years old, if this is something you haven’t tried, I would recommend this. Archery and group classes from six years old, as well as tennis courts and lessons. Throughout the week you can try your hand at beach volleyball, mini football, beach football or aqua aerobics in the main swimming pool. There is a fitness centre and for more relaxed activities; daily pilates classes or the option to lie on the sun loungers by the swimming pool or on the beach.
The restaurants are something to note, offering an excellent variety of cuisine. The Olea Gourmet Lounge and The Pleiades restaurants offering buffets and delicious food, you have a range of choices daily. If you fancy a pre-dinner canapé or cocktail head to The Aphrodite bar which is perfect for your sundowner or post-dinner nightcap. With special nights and themes each evening, you are truly spoilt for choice and the food is something to enjoy.
This hotel for me is one that works for all guests, with a short flight to Athens from London, it is perfect for a week’s getaway yet with enough to do for a longer two week holiday. Offering competitive prices, and a rarity with snacks, meals and drinks including house spirits and wines it is easy for all the family as well as couples to enjoy and steal a romantic sunset. A place I would definitely go back to, if nothing else but to enjoy the views, it is a popular resort and many guests come back year after year.
