Making up a large area of the Chobe National Park, Botswana’s oldest national park, the Linyanti area and the Savuti channel share similarities but also distinct differences, each a unique ecosystem with a different range of animals and environments to discover with a host of luxurious accommodation to choose between and enjoy.
The Linyanti area is comprised of a lush, green, near tropical swamp found in the northwest area of the Chobe, adjacent to the Linyanti river forming the swamplands dotted with isles rich with animal life.
It’s not just swamplands you will find in the Linyanti but open woodlands, lagoons and floodplains host a true paradise for bird lovers from herons and pelicans to hornbills, all best viewed during the summer months. During the winter months you can expect to come across great numbers of elephants and zebra as well as the African wild dog, lions, leopards and of course their prey such as the red lechwe.
The Savuti channel and marsh area sit along the western side of the Chobe National Park previously with a stable water supply, the now erratic Savuti channel means that the environment consists of rolling grasslands, dry plans and vast savanna, accommodating the zebra of the Linyanti over the summer months, bringing predators aplenty too. Expect to see rhinoceros, impala, wildebeest, lions, hyenas and of course elephants in the Savuti area.
