South Africa is at Africa’s southernmost tip and a country which is full of interest and intrigue. It has everything that you could wish for from a holiday destination including some of the best safari spotting on the planet, vibrant cities such as Cape Town, beautiful rolling hillsides and vineyards, iconic mountains and soft sandy beaches.
One of our most popular destinations, South Africa is within easy reach from the UK with direct flights, little time difference and English commonly spoken, it makes for the perfect introduction to Africa. Some of South Africa’s most famous attractions include Table Mountain, the Kruger National Park and the Cape Winelands. There are also many more places to visit and discover such as the Eastern Cape with its rugged beaches and scenery, the Madikwe Game Reserve a lesser known but worthy alternative to the Kruger area, and the towns and luxurious hotels dotted along The Garden Route, such as Fancourt Manor House.
South Africa is ideal for a holiday during the northern hemisphere’s winter, with fantastic weather it is very popular over the festive period. It is excellent year round as it has a wide range of climates and topography with hot desert climates in the north-east of the country in the southern Namib Desert, subtropical climate conditions in the south-east of the country, and windy and warm Mediterranean-style weather in the wine regions surrounding Cape Town.
The wildlife spotting is world-class as are the safari lodges where guests can stay, such as the Lion Sands Ivory Lodge and the Jamala Madikwe Lodge. When on safari guests might spot the Big Five as well as a wide range of other animals such as ostriches, meerkats or wild dogs. With regular domestic flights, our bespoke itineraries can encompass the different areas of South Africa and each guests’ wants and needs can be catered for with ease. A favourite itinerary is to have a few days in the exciting city of Cape Town, discovering the restaurants, waterfront and Table Mountain, before taking the short journey to The Winelands for wine tasting and gourmet dining and then finishing the holiday on safari.
