Ruaha National Park is Tanzania and east Africa’s largest park, set across 22,000 km squared the park is home to over 570 bird species, an array of wildlife which predominantly focus around the areas surrounding the Great Ruaha River and the impressive Ruaha Gorge.
The Ruaha Park is the true authentic safari experience, unspoilt and relatively unknown it’s a stark difference from the likes of the Ngorongoro crater. Whilst different in many ways the Ruaha Park shares some similarities such as many impressive wildlife such as the East African cheetah, African leopards, lions, buffalo and hippopotamus it’s a quiet secret not many know that means that you can easily escape the crowds and find your own piece of paradise.
Ruaha is situated in the central highlands, centrally located in Tanzania with rolling hills, savannah grasslands and towering mountains creating a powerful backdrop, it’s a perfect untouched environment for the animal species to flourish. The Great Ruaha River is the lifeline to the National Park and especially during the summer months sees a high concentration of wildlife focussed around it as small tributaries and rivers dry up, it’s the best time to find many different species all in one place.
