An excellent all round resort, Méribel is in the heart of the Three Valleys and is truly one of a kind. Popular with British guests through the winter, Méribel is a picturesque resort set at 1,450 meters it is filled with chocolate box style chalets and it is the central hub of its satellite villages. Méribel offers quick road and ski access to Mottaret, just up the mountain and Méribel Village and some smaller satellite villages, Le Gittaz and Les Allues down the mountain towards Bourg St. Maurice. Méribel itself is a spread out resort, from when you enter the Mussillon area all the way up to the Morel, there are a fantastic choice of chalets.
With excellent ski access from the Chaudanne you can meet your choice of ski schools, many with English instructors offering private and shared lessons. From here you can easily ski over to Courchevel or up to Val Thorens, the lifts are quick and you find few queues even during the school holidays. An easy ski or lift down it is a lovely place to finish the day, and with blue and green runs into the village even a beginner can ski back. With such a wide variety of terrain, it is excellent for beginner and intermediate skiers, however Méribel also offers a range of more challenging runs such as those found at the heights of Mont Vallon or through the Méribel couloir.
With an enticing selection of on piste restaurants, the Fruitiere for lunch at the new Folie Douce is an excellent sun trap, and for those less keen skiers you can book the second sitting and enjoy the show and service from the comfort of your table. For a gourmet lunch try Le Blanchot, in the Altiport area of Méribel, also accessible via road for traditional French and Savoyard cuisine. In resort there are a number of beautiful cafés and restaurants, in particular Chez Kiki a famous steak restaurant with karaoke bar downstairs, or if you are looking to spoil yourself La Bo a Mil in Méribel Village is elegant and perfect if you are pining for a meal with sophistication.
Great for après and nightlife, Méribel not only has a Folie Douce if you fancy dancing on the tables drinking rosé, the Rond Point has live music, good food and offers indoor après if the weather is closed in, there are also some bars in town to frequent, or The Lodge in Méribel Village. Méribel also has a range of lively bars such as Le Pub and O’Sullivans the main nightclub. Hosting a comedy festival each March and with weekly local markets, there is plenty to do for the non skiers as well, whether you want to take the gondola up and meet friends or family for lunch, go swimming, ice-skating, luge, watch an ice-hockey game, go bowling or visit and walk around the church in Les Allues you won’t be short of things to do.
