A year-round resort, Morzine has a French ambience and family-friendly feel, it is much more traditional than many ski resorts. Fantastic for not only skiing and snowboarding in the winter, this is a lively French town that is just as busy in the summer. Part of the Portes Du Soleil, Morzine is at 1000 metres altitude high, however it is set between the higher resorts of Les Get and Avoriaz. Luckily it has incredibly quick ski access up to Avoriaz and much higher skiing via the Super Morzine Gondola to take you up to 2,466 metres. You don’t need to worry about skiing back, as the gondola is the main route home from Avoriaz.
Just over an hour from Geneva, Morzine is excellent for travelling with small children or for a weekend break. There are a wide variety of childcare options and English speaking ski schools in Morzine. One side heads over to Les Get, here you have easy and cruisy blue and green runs, excellent for beginners and intermediates, or if you are trying to get your ski legs back in shape. Here you will find La Paika, an excellent lunch stop with a huge selection of deserts.
With 600 kilometres of pistes in the Portes Du Soleil, you will not get bored in a week, challenge yourself to the Swiss Wall and have lunch in Chez Gabby for one of the best röstis around. One of our favourite places to ski is around the Les Lindarets bowl, and to ski down to one of the gourmet restaurants in the Goat Village, in particular La Crémaillère is fantastic especially if you enjoy a café gourmand.
Whilst the après scene in Morzine is a little quieter than some resorts, Ardent offers a big après bar with live music at Happy Hours and La Kinkerne hosts parties by the Prodains lift. Alternatively at the bottom of the Pleney lift you will find the Le Tremplin Hotel, a fantastic place to stop for a crêpe. Central Morzine has lively nightlife with its own microbrewery and a selection of bars to sample, whilst the outer aspects of the village remain quieter. Try Dixie’s or Bar Robinsons, and if you want to be out later try Opera or the Cavern.
Morzine is excellent for non-skiers, with lots of boutique shops as well as excellent restaurants, a sports centre and spa treatments there is plenty to do, The town is filled with chocolate box chalet and shops and is perfect for a ski getaway.
