The Indian Ocean is one of the most desired holiday destinations in the world, there is nowhere quite like it. Set between Africa, Asia and Australasia, the turquoise waters are the warmest in the world and account for 20% of the water covering the world’s surface. With its own microclimate it truly is a tropical paradise.
The islands that reside in the Indian Ocean comprise of two types, the Laccadives, for example the Maldives, which are the low coral islands, and countries like Mauritius which are the higher volcanic islands.
The Indian Ocean surrounding the Indian peninsula is home to a host of endangered sea life which includes turtles, sea cows and seals. It makes for some of the best scuba diving and snorkeling of anywhere on the planet.
For the romantics, many islands have private villas and jungle huts with sunset cruises. Take a boat trip for a sunset cruise or sip cocktails on the white sandy beaches, all you will see is the sunset and the ocean out to the horizon. For the more adventurous, there are numerous jungles and mountain ranges to explore and many of the islands are famous for their sealife.
The food is world-class, there are not many places in the world where you can see sharks or stingrays swimming beneath your dinner table whilst enjoying culinary delights! Many islands and hotels within the Indian Ocean are tailored, ranging from romantic breaks for couples to ideal family resorts. Many destinations offer childcare and additional water sports activities.
Within the Indian Ocean you can travel to the Maldives, Mauritius or the Seychelles, each a tropical oasis of its own merit.
