Chada Katavi, Tanzania
4* camp
Set amongst the trees and close to the Chada Plain is the Chada Katavi camp. Situated in a remote part of Tazania’s Katavi National Park, the camp is best reached by flying into the camp airstrip at Ikuu. The remote nature of the camp is attractive and the very reason why there is plenty of wildlife to spot near to and around the camp. Guests staying at the Chada Katavi will experience a more rustic and wild safari experience, perfect for those looking to explore and really spend time in the wilderness.
The game spotting is excellent in the Katavi National Park and guests might see hippopotamuses wallowing in the Katumi River as well as buffalos, giraffes, elephants, lions and leopards living in their natural habitat. Those who stay at the Chada Katavi will appreciate the fine balance between the wilderness and the comfort of the camp, it offers an authentic and charming safari experience.
There are a number of different bush-related options on offer whilst staying at the Chada Katavi. Guests can choose between inclusive game drives in open-air vehicles, guided bush walks and picnic lunches out on the plains surrounding the camp. After a morning game drive many guests choose to relax in the comfort of their large and airy safari tent and have an afternoon siesta on the verandah. The Chada Katavi is a small camp with just six tented suites, each with an en-suite safari-esque bucket shower and eco-flush toilet as sustainable travel is a must within this sensitive ecosystem, water is a much valued resource here.

Our Thoughts
“With just six safari tents and a true feeling of African adventure the Chada Katavi is a camp that puts once in a lifetime experiences above luxurious creature comforts but still provides comfortable accommodation. The focus is on making memories such as those of gazelles walking past your verandah rather than about which brands of spirits are found in the bar.”
