Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp, Namibia
5* camp
Located on the edge of the Skeleton Coast National Park, the Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp is in a remote part of the Kaokoveld Desert area. Surrounded by a range of desert wildlife on land and by the sea, there are a vast array of excursions and activities on offer whilst staying here.
The scenery is rugged and beautiful with the Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp nestled in a valley where two tributaries of the Hoanib River meet. This water source provides a lifeline in a harsh environment which means guests can enjoy seeing the local wildlife with relative ease. These include mountain zebras, gemsbok, springbok, kudi giraffe, desert elephants, lions, leopards and occasionally cheetahs.
The Skeleton Coast is known for its iconic coastline and scenery. There are large shipwreck remains to be seen at Mowe Bay, whale bones to be found along the coast and towards Swakopmund guests can kayak with the local seal colony. The Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp is solar powered and part of a group aiming to conserve the desert areas of Anabeb, Torra and Sesfontein. The Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp is ecologically friendly and is also committed to conserving the desert lions and brown hyenas found in the local area.
Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp offers luxurious tented accommodation with just seven of these and one family tent; it is a private camp and is beautifully located. The individual tents are spacious and modern each with seating areas and spectacular desert views. The main lodge is chic and stylish with a comfortable lounge and bar area for guests to relax in. There is an outdoor deck area with a swimming pool and in the evenings guests can enjoy sitting around the fire pit and stargazing or regaling stories of their safari experiences. Guests stay on a full board basis local drinks included, there are also twice daily activities that are also included.
