Kigelia Ruaha, Tanzania
4* camp
On the edge of the Ifuguru Sand River, near to where it joins the River Mwagusi and Great Ruaha River is the Kigelia Ruaha. This beautiful and charming tented camp has a traditional safari ambience and a feeling of being out in the wilderness. For those looking to experience Africa’s wildlife and natural beauty it is an excellent choice.
The Kigelia Ruaha is a relaxed camp that is simple and elegant. There are just six light and inviting thatched safari tents with safari-esque bucket showers and each has a furnished verandah. The intimate size gives an exclusive feel and offers privacy, larger groups can also book the camp for sole occupancy. Most commonly the tents are booked individually and guests enjoy swapping stories around the fire after a day out on the savannah in search of animals.
The camp has a choice of both indoor and outdoor dining areas in the shade of the Kigelia Trees and a stay at the Kigelia Ruaha is on a full board basis including delicious meals and local drinks. The outdoor fire pit and seating area meanwhile is a popular spot for guests to have a few sundowners to round off each day.
Amongst the giant baobab trees and across the grasslands of the Ruaha National Park there is a huge variety of animals to spot. The Ruaha National Park is relatively untouched and like the Kigelia Ruaha provides a true safari experience. Guests staying at the Kigelia Ruaha can head out on a game drive or choose to explore the bush by foot in search of elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs and more.

Our Thoughts
“A more rustic camp in the wilderness, this is spacious and well finished and the perfect place to trade stories outside by the fire under the stars.”
